Bandra West, August 15, 2026: St. Theresa’s High School celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with patriotic fervour in the presence of Shri Johny Joseph, IAS (Retd.), Former Chief Secretary, Government of Maharashtra and Former Municipal Commissioner of Mumbai, as Chief Guest.
The celebration began with the flag hoisting, National Anthem and State Song, followed by the pledge, student speech and patriotic song.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Johny Joseph spoke on “India in the Making”, highlighting the challenges before the nation and the responsibility of the younger generation in building a stronger India.
The programme also included the felicitation of SSC toppers and scholarship recipients and a patriotic dance. Principal Fr. Shinoy Mathew compared the three colours of the National Flag to the three pillars of the school—teachers, parents and students, stressing their collective role in nurturing young minds.
The celebration was attended by teachers, parents, students and ex-students and concluded with Vande Mataram. The celebration was a fitting tribute to the spirit of freedom and served as a reminder of the values of unity, responsibility and collective effort in building the India of tomorrow.
